today #8

Today . . .

Go where You say go

Do what You say to do

Follow where You guide me

Stand when You say to

Be still, when prompted

Speak when You desire me to

Be quiet as You direct me

Be strong when You grow me

Be courageous  when You move me

I will answer the call,

Acknowledge Your presence,

Heed Your voice,

Listen when You speak,

Know You are with me.

Today—I…

James 2:14-17: "What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, ‘Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give…

Which verse(s) in Proverbs is your favorite? Why?

too big to fail

Jerry terHorst resigned as US Press Secretary when his friend President Gerald Ford pardoned disgraced former President Richard Nixon. He told Ford that he didn’t know how he could “credibly defend” the President’s decision to pardon Nixon when common citizens were being punished for conscientiously refusing to serve in the Vietnam War. For his part, President Ford did not want…

grave in springtime

It was the day between Good Friday and Easter. Winter had receded from the frozen landscape, so I ventured into the newly blossoming world. Hidden among the underbrush of our backyard, I discovered a small grave, complete with makeshift cross and crude headstone. On the gravesite, “H-O-L-L-Y” was spelled out in broken sticks and twigs. It was the name of…

life to the fullest - for Easter 2011

Much more than just a true story,

since the past for eternity,

is one that happened for glory,

that of the Holy Trinity.

Out of His great love for all man,

His Son, God was willing to send

that in Jesus, those who believe

will never die, but forever live.

Unlike Satan who comes to kill

in his ever deceiving ways,

Christ came to do the Father’s will

by redeeming us…

Galatians 3:13-14: “Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When He was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.’ Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing He promised to…

Today . . .

I walk in my Authority!

I name it – Authority –

and I claim it! – Authority!

I walk with the Power of the Holy Spirit!

That’s right! I’m bad! (as in good in the Lord!)

Today –

I will move mountains,

Overcome evil,

Heal the sick,

Uplift the broken-hearted!

Don’t mess with me!

I have got some power!

Today –

I move mountains,

I overcome evil,

I stomp on the…

bogged down

My computer has become a test of my patience. Beyond sluggish, it takes at least 10 minutes to boot up due to it being infected with viruses and malware. Being an impatient, impulsive button-pusher, I have to walk away after I turn it on. Otherwise, I’m tempted to hurry the process by striking a key too soon. Trying to keep…

for me?

Upon the cross He took the  sin;

paid the debt,

For me?

Upon the cross He took the pain;

He conquered death.

For me?

Upon the cross He took the anguish;

He endured separation, alone.

For me?

Torment followed Him,

Hopelessness mocked Him,

Judgment nailed Him,

Love kept Him there.

For me?  For all.

thank you, Lord

This poem was written because of Gods love for me; it has been a journey of failures and trials for me to accept His unconditional love. I have wasted time and energy in the pursuit of trying to escape pain through drugs and alcohol. Ii has only been recently that I have come to realize that God loves me just…

good friday

1 Corinthians 11: 23 – 25: “I pass on to you what I received from the Lord Himself. On the night when He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then He broke it in pieces and said, ‘This is My body, which is given for you. Do this to remember Me.’ In…

the hard way

In this devo, I will write about a subject of which I must say—with great confidence—is an area of expertise. Yes, I will be boasting here. For I’ve been well-trained and have lots of experience in it. My subject? Failure. No one wants to experience it, but you and I have both come to know it up close and personal.…

eggs and treasure

I was looking through an old journal yesterday. I love seeing where God has carried and kept us. This was written in 1990 about my two-year-old daughter, who is now a Senior in college:

“Lord, it is Easter. My children were in the front yard searching for plastic eggs filled with treasures of candy, coins, stickers and such. I noticed…

Mark 11:23-24: “I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will…
